Our Strategy

To fund restricted grants to pre-selected non-profit organizations who identify clients through case management. The individuals find themselves in a catastrophic life situation that is no fault of their own and need a hand up to move them forward towards self-sufficiency and continued independence.

In 2009, Change a Life Foundation awarded nearly $3 million dollars (see allocation) to needy families and individuals through non-profit partner organizations.

GRANT GUIDELINES FOR INDIVIDUALS

Grants for individuals must be requested and administered by pre-selected nonprofit organizations that provide case management services; individuals may not apply themselves.  Non-profit organizations must be pre-approved and in partnership with Change a Life Foundation in order to participate in submitting grants.

Purpose and Target Populations
The Foundation’s purpose is to significantly help individuals and families who, through no fault of their own, have experienced an injury, illness, disability, or catastrophic life event, and who are suffering financial hardship, by providing support for critically needed direct services that promote their self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life. Grants are made through a one-time or short-term (average twelve months) intervention.  Grant beneficiaries are required to be legal residents or US citizens.  The Foundation intends that funds will be used as a last resort.  Applications must discuss research into all available alternate funding sources.  All of these elements are required for applications to be eligible.
Applications are submitted online and are only available to our pre-selected non-profit organizations.

Individual Grant Categories
Organizations that have been pre-selected as partners, may request grants from $500 up to $7,500 for specific grant funds that cost-effectively serve an eligible individual.  Funding may be requested for services and/or equipment for individuals.
